How to receive the Government’s £400 energy rebate

Beginning in October, the Government will be offering 28 million households grants of up to £400 in the form of energy bill discounts to “take the sting” out of rising energy costs.

In October and November, customers will receive a £66 discount on their bills, followed by £67 per month from December to March 2023. The rebate does not need to be repaid.

The vast majority of homes will automatically receive their rebates. The amount will be deducted from direct debit customers’ bills, while “smart” prepayment customers will receive credit on their devices. However, bill payers with older prepayment devices are required to file a claim with their provider. These customers will instead receive a voucher redeemable for a device top up.
