Benefits Update: Universal Credit Migration

The DWP is contacting everyone in Surrey who receives legacy benefits as they need to migrate to Universal Credit. Those benefits are:

  • Housing Benefit,
  • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA),
  • Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA),
  • Child Tax Credits (CTC),
  • Working Tax Credits (WTC), and
  • Income Support

Once a migration letter is received, recipients have three months to apply to migrate to Universal Credit. If they miss this deadline then benefits will automatically be stopped and there may be other impacts, such as the loss of transitional arrangements.

If you receive a migration letter then please contact our Tenancy Sustainment Team (or your local Citizens Advice ) urgently for advice. The team will be able to help  you move across to the new system and claim everything you are entitled to.

If you receive a migration notice you can also get extra information, specialised support signposting, and an estimate of your transitional protection, from the Budgeting and Benefit Calculator on our website: Budgeting and Benefits Calculator – Rosebery Housing.
