Financial Literacy Project update

The latest cohort of students from two Epsom schools have graduated from the Citizens Advice Epsom & Ewell’s Financial Literacy Course.

We’ve been proud to support the course, which started at Epsom & Ewell High School before being expanded to Blenheim High School.

The course provides students with the skills they need to be financially aware. Students cover a range of topics including the importance of managing money; budgeting, income, and expenditure; credit cards, cost of credit and credit reports; household bills; scams; and where to get help.

Epsom & Ewell High School completed a survey to determine the impact of the 10-week course on its students (aged 16-17), which showed that:

  • 84% now said they know where to seek help if they needed it (16% knew already)
  • 70% now felt they could manage their money responsibly (30% already thought they could)
  • 60% said they would recommend the course to other students.

Lisa Davis (CEO of Epsom Citizens Advice) and Natasha Stanley-Andrews (Income Area Manager for Rosebery) recently attended the Closing Assembly for the Financial Literacy Project at Blenheim High School. They congratulated the sixth formers receiving their course certificates, and both spoke about the importance of the project.

Well done to all of the students who took part in this project, and we look forward to seeing the survey results from Blenheim High School!
