We are proud to be supporting Gas Safety Week 2020, taking place from Monday 14 – Sunday 20 September.
Gas Safety Week is an annual safety week to raise awareness of gas safety and the importance of taking care of your gas appliances. It is coordinated by Gas Safe Register, the official list of gas engineers who are legally allowed to work on gas.
Badly fitted and poorly serviced gas appliances can cause gas leaks, fires, explosions and carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning. CO is a highly poisonous gas that can kill quickly with no warning, as you cannot see it, taste it or smell it.
As your Landlord, we are responsible for your safety. We make sure we carry out regular maintenance and safety checks on gas appliances. Some of this includes working with our contractor, TBrown, to carry out all annual gas safety checks, we start the process on a 10 month cycle to enable access for your annual gas safety inspection.
It important that we carry out a gas safety inspection at your property for the safety of those in your home and in any neighbouring properties. These checks also prevent Carbon Monoxide which is a poisonous gas that has no smell or taste. Breathing it in can make you unwell and can be fatal if you are directly exposed to it. We ensure checks are completed to the highest level of satisfaction for our residents.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, we have been busy working with TBrown to continue our high standard of gas safety. They have:
- Carried out a COVID-19 risk assessment and shared results.
- Maintained strict procedures of cleaning, hand washing and hygiene in line with official guidelines.
- Ensured the 2m social distancing space was maintained with residents.
- Supported our high risk or vulnerable residents.
