ETHOS is a free service (which Rosebery helps to fund) that runs a job club and one to one appointments. During the coronavirus pandemic, ETHOS are still operating and are providing support over the phone or at socially distanced appointments.
For many people, the Coronavirus crisis has led to them losing their job. ETHOS can help them to find new employment opportunities or training courses, they also help with with:
- Writing CVs and covering letters.
- Searching and applying for jobs.
- Interview practice and techniques.
You can call ETHOS on 07904 908 871 or send an email.
Here is an example of the support ETHOS can provide:
‘D’ was referred to ETHOS by Rosebery staff. At first reluctant to engage with ETHOS, D gradually became more interested in answering calls from ETHOS and agreed to meet ETHOS in a community location close by to where D was living.
Signed off from work for health reasons, D was unsure about future options to return to employment. ETHOS interactions, for quite some time, focused on exploring anxieties; thoughts and personal history in the workplace and health concerns; whilst building trust in the ETHOS relationship/support.
Gradually D became more strongly motivated to work and ETHOS support moved on to preparing CV’s and exploring local job options. D secured part time hours with a previous employer as a short term, practical step back into work.
Following relocation, both D and partner needed different jobs to sustain their new rental property; both their previous workplace locations became untenable. D worked with ETHOS to rewrite the CV and to again explore job options near to their new home. ETHOS contacted a local employer with whom ETHOS has a strong relationship and negotiated an interview for D. D and ETHOS practised interview technique and talked at length about other preparations which would boost D’s success for this attractive job option. Following a 2-stage interview process, D was successful in being offered the position; D has now started the training and induction process for his new full time and, potentially permanent local employment.
Now that D’s income looks stable, D’s partner is now actively working with ETHOS to seek a new job within a more reasonable commuting distance.
