Rosebery goes that extra mile in the snow

As flurries of snow covered the streets of Surrey, many older people found it impossible to step outside to buy essential goods. Concerned about their vulnerable residents, Rosebery tried phoning every one of their tenants over the age of 70 and offered help in getting food and medical supplies to those in need.

Rosebery's Housing and Customer Service Team called 237 local residents to check on their wellbeing, ensure their heating was working and confirm whether they had a friend, relative or good neighbour to lend a hand. When help was needed, staff went above and beyond to deliver necessities such as bread and arrange for prescriptions to be delivered.

Lynn James, Senior Scheme Manger, helped several residents over three days during the snow.

Lynn said: "It's a priority for Rosebery to provide excellent customer care for our residents. We recognised that many of our older residents were unable to walk to the shops in the icy weather and it was important to us that we could help to put their minds at rest.

"For those who needed support, my team didn't stop at one house call - we dropped by the next day in case residents wanted anything else. Just by clearing away some snow we helped our residents get to hospital - it's out pleasure."

Kay Buckenham, age 84 of Hook Road in Epsom, was grateful for the help Lynn and the rest of the team provided.

Kay said: "From what I have seen, Rosebery really cares about their older residents. I am so happy with the support I've received from Lynn. It means I don't have to worry about running out of daily essentials like bread and milk during the cold weather."

Lynn continued: "Feedback from some of our older customers has shown that they were delighted with the support from Rosebery. We wish all our residents a warm and safe festive break."
